I
got Paige from Dr. Debbie Darche. She and I had become friends and
she had been showing Cutter. She came from a 3 puppy litter, all girls.
They
were born on October 6, 1991. After they were about 5 weeks old, I
saw them and watched as the 3 girls just beat each other up! They were
all
wanted to be number one! I got 2nd pick, and I came home from the Montgomery
shows with a new baby! Paige was my "first" show dog! She was
named Sundance's Champagne on Ice, call name Paige because of her coloring.
She reminded me of champagne hence her name. We went to conformation classes
together and learned alot. Paige made her show debut in Birmingham in April
of 1992. She won her class both days! The next weekend, we went to Montgomery
for the shows and she won her class both days and also Reserve Winner's
Bitch! Needless to say I was thrilled! During the rest of the Spring and
Fall I showed Paige. We didn't show much during the next year as Paige
was growing up! After she turned 2, we started showing again! She won her
class at most shows and earned several of her single points. Debbie showed
her when I couldn't come to the shows. During the Fall of 1994, Paige had
her 1st litter! She was 3.5 at the time. Debbie whelped that litter, as
I was in Italy visiting my younger sister during her due date! She had
7 puppies! They were yellows and blacks, as I had bred her to Ch. Gemstone's
Rokinon Easy CD "Rocky", who was black.
In 1995 I finished putting her single points and a friend of mine Angie Cox
asked to take Paige to FL to show her at the Space Coast cluster. It was
majors all
3 days. I told Angie, all she needed to do was win 2 of the 3 days to finish
Paige! Angie called me on late Saturday evening and informed me I had a Champion.
Paige had finished her championship with back to back majors, going best
on winners on Saturday! That was in 1995. Her first weekend out in August,
she took best
of opposite Friday and Saturday. On Sunday she took best of breed over other
specials, then she took a group 4! That year Paige was listed as the 99th
Lab in the country! Over the next few years, I showed her at local shows.
The 1st
year of the Cotton Cluster (our local shows) she took best of breed all 3
days. Paige was bred only 5 times in her life. In 1997, she had a litter
of 6 males.
I lost one the first night, but all the others lived. I kept 2 out of that
litter. Magnum, my stud dog, is her baby! The other Peri, didn't get big
enough, so I
neutered him and he went to VA to my brother. In her latter years, Paige
took several wins at Lab specialty shows in Veterans. Her very last show
was in Atlanta
at the Lab Specialty (Sept 2002) she won Best Veteran in Show and took an
Award of Merit! Paige loved people and going places! She loved the water
and loved
going to the beach! She raised my last litter, when my other bitch got sick.
Paige did everything for me, but feed them! She was a friendly girl, but
after her greeting, she would go about her business or go take a nap!She
was a wonderful girl and I miss her everyday.
